I love what I do. For me, this role is where the worlds of business, the media and the financial markets coincide. I am lucky enough to spend time with a wide range of business people, often at very different stages of their careers, and get a unique insight into their businesses, challenges, triumphs and disasters.

The relationship between the corporate world and the City that provides its capital is ever changing and endlessly fascinating. I enjoy the company of journalists and their relentless quest for 'the story', and increasingly, the person behind the story. And I have played a part in some of the great dramas in City history, some less famous but no less compelling. In my previous life I started with BTR's bid for Hawker Siddeley, and I was at the heart of the PR for the defence of Forte. I’ve managed the media aftermath at Railtrack following the Paddington rail crash, the creation of Diageo, and the IPO of Goldman Sachs. And I’ve worked for Sainsbury, ScottishPower, Barclays and Prudential.

I am also lucky because I know the experience we bring can make a real difference to a company, an executive or a transaction. Reputation counts for more today than ever before and the heart of our business is advising companies and their management on how to build, maintain and enhance their reputations. A client once said "good PR is hard to measure but you always know if you have got it". I am in no doubt as to its importance and value.

At Tulchan I have advised on GE's acquisition of Nycomed Amersham, the defence of M&S and its subsequent restoration to being a thriving retail force, the NYSE's acquisition of Euronext, and the IPOs of M&C Saatchi and Drax.

In addition to the work I do for clients I love the challenge of building Tulchan into a world class advisory firm. I work with great people. Most are real experts in their own right, others have the potential to be, and our training is developing that natural talent. The past six years have been very exciting but the best years of this firm lie ahead.
