Ed Cropley joins Tulchan

We are delighted to announce that Ed Cropley is joining our Technology, Media and Telecoms team as a Director.


Ed has spent the past 25 years at Reuters, where he held several roles. Most recently, from 2018, Ed was a columnist and editor for Breakingviews, the news agency’s financial commentary arm whose readership is focused on business leaders and policy makers. During his time there, Ed expanded its coverage of emerging markets while leading its reporting on European telecoms, the energy transition, aviation and mining.

Before joining Reuters Breakingviews, Ed spent almost 20 years as an international reporter. Overseas postings included Cambodia, Iraq, Thailand and South Africa, from where he led Reuters’ coverage of sub-Saharan Africa from 2014 to 2018.

During his time at Reuters, he covered numerous global stories, including the 2004 Indian Ocean tsunami, the 2005 coup against Thai Prime Minister Thaksin Shinawatra and the 2012 death of Nelson Mandela. He won Reuters Story of the Year for coverage of Myanmar’s ‘Saffron Revolution’ and was nominated for a Pulitzer Prize for his reporting on the 2017 military coup against Zimbabwean President Robert Mugabe.
